The Dalai Lama, Tibet’s spiritual leader, apologized on Monday after a video surfaced of him urging a young child to “suck his tongue” during a public ceremony that took place late Feb.
The video, with over 1 million views on Twitter, also shows the Nobel Peace Prize laureate almost kissing the kid on the lips in front of an audience who can be heard cheering and laughing.
Dalai Lama apologized to the boy on Monday via his Twitter account for the inappropriate and pedophilic-like action and expressed his regret for that obscene request.
The Dalai Lama, 87, escaped to India in 1959 after an unsuccessful revolt against Chinese control in Tibet and is considered a dangerous separatist by Beijing.
