A convoy delivered supplies, on Apr. 5-7, to two of the MINURSO Team Sites east of the berm (Sahara sand wall) in Tifariti and Mehaires, said UNSG Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric on Monday.
An agreement was made on Mar. 30 to move forward with a ground convoy to restock the Team Sites east of the berm, which are in urgent need of supplies, notably fuel, said Dujarric during the Daily Press Briefing.
The supplies were safely transported to their destination, where they will allow the MINURSO to overcome some of the logistical challenges it is facing, and to continue operating.
The political process must be given room to advance, with the facilitation of UNSG personal envoy Staffan de Mistura; therefore it is imperative to capitalize on this momentum and make sure the Mission can continue its on-the-ground work and presence, he said.
