Brazil has a sound and legal position on the Moroccan Sahara, as it calls for a political solution under the aegis of the UN Security Council, said Morocco’s Ambassador to Brazil Nabil Adghoghi.
Brazil has never recognized the fake state and has backed a political solution in the Security Council to settle the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, said Adghoghi in an article published by “Correio Braziliense” newspaper.
He added that the most recent UN Security Council resolution, approved last October, reaffirmed the pre-eminence of the autonomy plan, which the international community deems serious, realistic, and pragmatic.
The Ambassador highlighted that 90 countries have expressed support for the autonomy plan.
He stressed that this issue had prevented the Maghreb’s integration for nearly half a century, with closed land borders, restricted air space, low horizontal exchanges, and non-existent free movement.
Adghoghi concluded by saying that it is imperative to convince the Algerian regime to abandon its warmongering and searing discourse about Morocco.
