Tourists crossing Morocco’s borders reached roughly 1.9 million by the end of February 2023, showing a +464% increase year on year, said the Tourism Observatory.
This growth is shared between foreign tourists (an increase of 703%), and Moroccans living abroad (an increase of 324%).
In terms of tourist arrivals, the rate of recovery compared to the same period in 2019 was 117% (149% of the visitors are Moroccan expatriates and 99% are tourists.)
At 136%, Spain had the biggest recovery from January to February 2019 in terms of source markets, followed by the UK (125%) and Italy (103%), while Germany had the lowest recovery (60%).
