King Mohammed VI inaugurated, Wednesday, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center in Casablanca’s Ibn Rochd University Hospital.
The Center, which will receive more than 1,300 patients with mental illnesses on a yearly basis, was funded by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity (approximately 10.5 million MAD).
The project aims to support the national medical sector by bolstering the existing medical offer and improving access to health care for marginalized populations.
The facility was constructed over a surface area of 2,100 m2. It includes rooms mainly for therapeutic psychology, psychiatry, occupational therapy, and functional evaluation, in addition to workshops for cooking therapy, plastic arts, pottery, hairdressing and IT.
The workshops seek to help patients focus, stimulate their imagination and creativity, rebuild their self-confidence, and facilitate their social and professional integration.
The center has 3 psychiatrists, 2 neuropsychologists, 7 mental health nurses, as well as trainers in hairdressing, IT, cooking, sports, theater, pottery, and art therapy.
156 people are benefiting currently from the services of the Center.
