Morocco voted, on Wednesday, in favor of three resolutions by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) against Israeli occupation and treatment of Arab citizens in Israeli-occupied territories.
The first resolution concerns the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and demands that Israel, the occupying power, immediately cease all settlement-related plans and activities in the said territory, and that it stops its repressive measures against the Syrian citizens and release immediately the Syrian detainees in Israeli prisons.
The second one touches on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. It called upon Israel to immediately end its occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and to reverse and redress any impediments to the political independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Palestine.
The third addressed Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and also in the Syrian Golan Heights. It urged Israel to comply with all of its obligations under international law and to cease immediately all actions causing the alteration of the character, status, and demographic composition of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and the Syrian Golan Heights.
The Kingdom of Morocco abstained from voting on the resolution on the situation of human rights in Ukraine, stemming from the Russian/Ukrainian crisis.
