Secretary General of Sahrawis for Peace (MSP) Hach Ahmed denounced the brutal assault by Polisario militiamen against his relatives in the Dakhla camp, located 160 km east of Tindouf, several media outlets had reported.
In a letter to the UNSG, Hach said that this type of aggression is recurrent, adding that this unjustified, excessive use of force is an act of revenge for political reasons, in a camp inhabited mainly by women and children.
Hach said that his relatives were victims of harassment at the hands of the Polisario members, especially his niece Hassina Salem Ahmed who was beaten. He provided graphic pictures of the victim.
A series of violent acts took place Friday in the same camp in Dakhla in response to the campaign of repression by the Polisario. The Polisario’s gendarmerie post and equipment were set on fire.
The MSP is a political movement that breaks with the totalitarian model of the polisario and advocates a peaceful solution to the Sahara conflict.
