Dignitaries and Sheikhs of the Ouled Dlim Tribe said, in a statement, that they were horrified by the physical and moral abuse that the inhabitants of the Tindouf camps are subjected to by the Polisario militiamen.
“We, Sheikhs of Ouled Dlim, urge all parties involved and concerned with human rights to immediately intervene and halt the practices endured far too long by the residents of Ouled Dlim,” wrote the document.
They also expressed their regret at the provocations and mistreatment of women and children as well as the pressure the Polisario put on them.
They demanded that the UN Secretary-General and the international community put an end to this long-running dispute, which lasted fifty years, and provide swift solutions under the autonomy plan.
The Tribe representatives requested that King Mohammed VI expedite the processes necessary for other members to return home.
The dignitaries held the Algeria-backed Polisario responsible for these criminal acts. They exonerated residents of other tribes of all blame, explaining that the implication of brothers from other tribes is just a camouflage by the Polisario to sow discord.
