Young residents of the Tindouf Camps attacked, Friday, the polisario’s gendarmerie in the Dakhla Camps (170 km South-east of Rabouni), and set fire to three of their vehicles, as well as to other equipment.
The youth are mostly from the Ouled Dlim Tribe, informed sources had reported
The gendarmerie’s elements opened fire, driving the protesters away.
The clash was triggered when the gendarmerie raided, March 31, the house of late Salem Ould Ahmed Lahmyer, brother of Polisario opponent El Haj Ahmed Barikallah. The militiamen were looking for a family member who broke the curfew.
The gendarmerie patrol used force against all the family, especially the daughter of late Salem Ould Ahmed Lahmyer, who was beaten.
Consequently, the camp’s young people launched a call for staging a sit-in in front of the gendarmerie headquarters in the Dakhla camp, demanding to bring the said attackers to justice.
A military and gendarmerie-led Polisario force left at midnight Rabouni, heading to the Dakhla camp.
