The Moroccan Prison Administration (DGAPR) rebuked, on Wednesday, the claims of alleged abuse and torture inside penitentiaries made by Amnesty International (AI).
The DGAPR specifically refuted such allegations concerning an inmate held in Tifelt 2 prison following the Gdim Izik events.
The DGAPR said the convict was never assaulted by any prison employee, and, like all prisoners, he enjoys all his rights under the rules and regulations governing prisons.
True to its colors, AI is seizing every chance to spread misleading information and unsubstantiated allegations against the Kingdom of Morocco, said the DGAPR, adding that the so-called human rights organization did not contact the prison administration or national human rights bodies to come up with a verified, balanced report.
