A second gigantic coronal hole, 20 times the size of the Earth, has been detected at the center of the sun, unleashing solar winds of 1.8 million miles per hour, to reach the Earth as per Friday, said the Daily Mail on Wednesday.
The other coronal hole was spotted at the sun’s equator.
Scientists are keenly studying the situation to determine if the winds will have an effect on the Earth’s magnetic field, satellites, or tech.
‘Coronal holes are magnetically exposed locations that contribute to the high-speed solar wind,’ NASA explained.
While the image may appear frightening at first glance, it does not signal that we are in danger, it said.
