71% of French people are asking for a referendum to cancel the newly-adopted pension law which brings the retirement age from 62 to 64, according to the Odoxa political barometer.
75% of them voiced their will to take part in this direct vote by the electorate.
In order to be held, the referendum must collect the signatures of one-tenth of the electorate, i.e. 4.87 million signatures within nine months.
The referendum project is massively supported by both left-wing and National Rally supporters.
The survey collected data from a sample of 1,004 people, aged 18 and over, via online questionnaires.
The leading company in opinion polls “Ifop” also showed that only 28% of French citizens are satisfied with Macron’s performance.
The French president’s popularity is at its lowest since 2019 after the adoption of the pension reform plan and his interview on television.
