The Court of Appeal in Casablanca gave, last Thursday, its ruling against Deputy of the public prosecutor at Casablanca’s First Instance court and 27 others who stood trial over the charges of creating a criminal gang specializing in corruption, falsification of official data, racketeering, power abuse, adultery, and fraud.
The Deputy of the public prosecutor was suspended from his duties, sentenced to 5 years in prison, and fined 5,000 MAD.
The two mediators were sentenced to 5 years and a fine of 10,000 MAD.
The court also sentenced a former Deputy of the public prosecutor at the same court to a year in prison, 6 months of which are suspended.
A lawyer at the Casablanca’s Bar was also handed a one year sentence and a fine of 5,000 dirhams. The rest of the prison term will be suspended.
Two court employees and five police officers were also given a one year sentence and fined 5,000 MAD each.
The remaining people (a temporarily-suspended police officer, a legal advisor, an agent, a retired gendarme, and a company manager) were all sentenced to one year in prison, two months of which suspended, and fined 5,000 MAD each.
