Police services arrested, this week, six individuals including a woman over the suspicion of forming a criminal network for hacking clients’ bank information, stealing, and harming automated data processing systems.
The suspects were nabbed in Laayoune, Casablanca, and Agadir.
The probe revealed that the arrested were carrying out fraudulent transactions targeting dozens of victims.
The arrested were using an electronic phishing server that sends messages to the clients asking them to send their data to a fake website similar to the bank’s official one.
Police officers seized IT equipment, mobile phones and electronic devices on which digital expertise will be performed.
The suspects were remanded in police custody to dig deeper into the case under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
