Queen of Netherlands and UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), Maxima Zorreguieta Curreti, is on a visit to Morocco (Mar. 20-23) to promote inclusive green finance, mobile money, and Fintech.
Fintech as a key investment that can help address risks, costs, and geographic barriers to financial services.
The queen paid a visit to the new start-up Chari to discuss digital transformation and financial inclusion in the economic sector. She held a meeting with Chairperson and CEO of Bank of Africa Omar Benjelloun, and a Fintech association.
The UN official also met with AXA Assurance Managing Director Meryem Chami, and had a roundtable meeting with some private sector stakeholders.
Queen Maxima visited Arrawaj Foundation, which finances micro-entrepreneurs and businesses excluded from the formal financial system, and talked to craftsmen specializing in leather and baking.
The Queen held separate talks with Economy Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui and Secretary General of Government Mohammed El Hajoui. She is expected to meet with Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour, and Bank Al-Maghrib Governor Abdellatif Jouahri.
