Morocco is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and violent extremism because of its proactive and multifaceted approach, as per American expert in International Relations, Irina Tsukerman.
Tsukerman told Morocco’s news agency MAP, following the arrest of ISIS-affiliated persons by Moroccan police services, that Morocco is leading the fight against extremism in all its forms in North Africa and beyond.
She stated that Morocco’s counterterrorism approach dismantles and deconstructs devious concepts that encourage violence and hatred.
This strategy relies not just on a competent and efficient security and intelligence approach, but also on education and religion, she said, adding that the Moroccan approach is also based on promoting values such as peace, coexistence and respect for otherness.
The US expert also affirmed that because of this efficient strategy, incidences of extremism “are rare and are foiled quickly,” emphasizing that the Moroccan model of combatting terrorism and violent extremism is recognized by the international community.
