The multinational automotive equipment company “Aptiv” opened, Saturday, its new factory in Oujda (northeastern Morocco).
The factory was inaugurated by Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka, Managing Director of Aptiv Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, and Portugal Mohammed Filali, and other officials.
The factory’s investment budget amounts to 394 million MAD, and it is planned to be “eco-friendly,” in line with Aptiv’s commitment to zero carbon by 2040.
The project will secure more than 3,000 jobs.
The materials of manufacturing and equipment (insulation panels, solar panels, etc.) will significantly reduce water and electricity consumption and boost economic and industrial activity in the region.
Aptiv opened its first production facility in Tangier in 1999. It is now operating seven factories in Morocco.
