The solid ties between Morocco and Palestine are governed by the 2020 royal statement and the phone call between King Mohammed VI and President Mahmoud Abbas, said Palestine’s Ambassador to Morocco Jamal Choubki.
The statement and phone conversation reiterated Morocco’s firm position on the Palestinian cause which is a priority in the country’s foreign policy, he told “Medi1 TV” on Monday.
The Kingdom of Morocco is a main supporter of Palestine’s decisions in all international forums, Choubki added.
The Palestinian diplomat recalled that Arab Foreign ministers, who met recently in Cairo, lauded the role of the monarch as chairperson of Al-Quds committee.
The Kingdom also emphasizes the need to end Israeli occupation and establish a Palestinian State, he stressed.
The Palestinian ambassador also recalled that Morocco backed Palestine’s request to the International Court of Justice for an advisory opinion on the nature of Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
“We encourage Arab nations to follow Morocco’s lead in helping Al-Quds Al-Sharif and meeting its social, health and educational needs,” the Ambassador added.
