The Royal Office of King Mohammed VI criticized the half-truths and irresponsible and dangerous statements made by the PJD Party (ex-ruling party) over the relations between Morocco and Israel, and how it connected these ties to the recent developments on the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement on Monday, the Royal Office reaffirmed that Morocco’s position on the Palestinian cause is irreversible and tops the priorities of the King who equated it to the National Cause.
“This is one of the immutable values of the country all the more so because foreign policy falls under the prerogatives of the King, by virtue of the constitution,” it recalled.
The Royal Office asserted that Morocco’s international relations cannot be a blackmail matter, especially amid the current complicated global context.
Taking advantage of the Kingdom’s foreign policy and using it to serve the political agenda of a party is an unacceptable and dangerous precedent.
The resumption of Moroccan-Israeli relations took place in specific circumstances, and was governed by statements issued by the Royal Office, as well as by the tripartite declaration inked before the Monarch, it concluded.
