The National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) announced the creation of a working group to review the family law and prepare a memorandum that would fill the text’s legal gaps.
Through this initiative, the rights body seeks to enshrine equality and non-discriminatory practices in the law and make the latter more compatible with international conventions, it said in a statement.
Chairperson of CNDH Amina Bouayach noted the body is striving to abolish legal provisions on the marriage of minors, in addition to giving its opinion on criminal and civil procedures related to women and girls.
To choose the working group members, the CNDH adopted criterions such as multidisciplinarity, field work, competence and commitment, she added.
