The Moroccan Judicial Investigation Bureau (BCIJ) dismantled, on Thursday, an ISIS-linked terrorist cell over the suspicion of planning attacks that could jeopardize public order.
The cell, made up of three individuals, was caught on the back of intelligence by DGST services, according to BCIJ statement.
Special Forces raided specific locations in Tetouan, Larache and Souk El Arbaa to apprehend the suspects.
The search operation led to the discovery of knives, documents glorifying ISIS ideology and encouraging violence as well as publications by ISIS in the Sahel. Expertise and forensics will be carried out on confiscated IT equipment.
The suspects were preparing terrorist attacks and documented their plans via digital content. They were also planning to leave the country and join ISIS boot camp in the Sahel.
The three-strong cell is on remand to complete BCIJ investigation, under the prosecution in charge of terrorism affairs.
