Head of Deloitte Cybersecurity Center Imade Elbaraka said that the potential of cybersecurity in Morocco is considerable and there is an economic opportunity not to be ignored.
In an interview with Media24 news outlet, Elbaraka said that the potential in Morocco is enormous because of the growth of the sector globally, adding that the cyber center in Casablanca is the first of its kind in Africa.
He said that the company intends to achieve 5 billion dollars of export turnover within five years, as well as several billion dollars within 15 years.
Elbaraka hopes to hit the figure of 450 engineers as the center includes only 100 engineers for now.
He voiced his conviction that Deloitte’s investments in Morocco will attract digital multinationals.
The company endeavors to create a model inspired by that of Israel, he said, emphasizing that an ecosystem for cybersecurity requires very little investment in CAPEX (capital expenditure).
He added that the national ecosystem could include cybersecurity beside other digital fields, as artificial intelligence, data science and blockchain.
Elbaraka added that cybersecurity is important for the sovereignty and national security of Morocco because modern wars are played out in cyberspace.
