The French Senate approved, on Wednesday night, article 7 on retirement age despite the ongoing protests it triggered recently.
Out of the 345 parliamentarians in the Senate, 201 voted yes and 115 voted no.
According to the government’s pension reform plan, the retirement age will gradually increase from 62 to 64.
Following the law’s adoption, trade unions asked to be received “urgently” by the Head of State, Emmanuel Macron.
