The Constitutional Court ruled that MPs can be stripped from their membership in the Lower House if they are repeatedly absent, with no plausible justification.
The court enforced provisions of Article 13 of the Lower House’s rules of procedures which stipulate that “any Lower House member will be deprived of his/her membership if absent, with no justification, from the House’s activity for more than one legislative year”.
The office of the House of Representatives can contact absentees throughout the legislative year to receive justifications within 15 days, otherwise, the absence is deemed unjustified, according to the ruling.
