National Police (DGSN) presented, Tuesday, the “Missing Child” initiative, similar to US Amber Alert, to track down and report missing kids.
The initiative, in partnership with “META” company, was introduced at a conference organized at the Royal Police Institute.
The police and “META” concluded an agreement under which the social media giant will contribute to finding missing children via its multiple apps.
The initiative is inspired by “Amber Alert” which has a platform on Facebook to disseminate notification alerts and search for missing children within specific deadlines and geographical locations.
The conference gave details on the new system, particularly the judicial search procedure conducted by the security services and supervised by the public prosecution, and whether or not it is compatible with rules governing personal data protection.
Prior to this launch, special police teams had fully evaluated the procedure of reporting missing children and the subsequent search operation by police services, and included some decisive modifications.
