Director of Judicial Investigation Bureau (BCIJ) Cherkaoui Habboub said, Thursday, that concluding agreements such as the Abraham accords, signed with Israel and the United States, can help Morocco face security challenges.
In an interview with Israeli channel “i24 news”, Habboub said that the Abraham accords helped foster the strategic and security ties through the sharing of information and expertise.
He added that the Israeli-Moroccan cooperation will help stem the scourge of terrorism and organized crime.
“The Abraham accords were established to pursue peace and security and counter the expansion of Iran and Hezbollah,” according to Habboub.
He added that Morocco is facing a real threat instigated by Iran and Hezbollah with the help of Algeria, explaining that the Iranian support for polisario, via Hezbollah, is considered a source of destabilization for Morocco.
He further mentioned that Iran provided the polisario militia with anti-aircraft missiles and drones.
BCIJ director explained that the Sahel has become a hotbed for terrorist organizations that were once active in Syria and Iraq, acknowledging that the Special Forces operating in the region have made significant progress. “Still, much remains to be done to put an end to terrorism.”
