Tindouf Autonomy Support Forum (Forsatin) revealed, on Tuesday in a detailed article with a video, the ugly face of black slavery in the Tindouf camps.
Salem Ould Abidin, a dark-skinned Sahrawi, complained in a video released by Forsatin about his status of a slave with no family name. His “master,” who enslaves him, threatens to kill him, while polisario leaders turn a blind eye.
Ould Abidin is just one example among others in a society where suffering and slavery are entwined.
Tribe affiliation created the social foundation on which is based the Polisario leadership. Benefits, humanitarian aid, travel and jobs hinge on such affiliation.
“Stolen”, an Australian documentary movie that illustrates the chaotic situation in the Tindouf camps mainly slavery won many international prizes, despite strenuous efforts by the polisario leaders to prevent its screening.
The Polisario separatists forced the main character of the movie to deny everything shown in the film. They also claimed that the inaccuracy of the Hassani-English translation makes the film message flawed.
