The Moroccan Inter-ministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH) completely dismissed, on Monday, the latest document issued on Feb. 20 by Amnesty International’s branch in Spain.
In a release entitled “Finally, the mask has fallen off Amnesty,” the Delegation noted that the format of the document is not specified by the NGO to know if it is a press release or a report.
The Delegation wondered why the NGO is addressing an issue related to Morocco through its subsidiary in Spain. It noted that AI is repeatedly approaching the ten cases it mentioned, thus vindictively politicizing its position in favor of enemies of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity. Such allegations were proved to be unfounded by the justice system and by the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), it explained.
The Moroccan body pointed out that AI failed to provide any proof to substantiate its allegations of human rights violations in Morocco. It did not perform an analytical reading of the verdicts concerning eight out of the ten people mentioned in its document, it said.
Concerning torture, the NGO did not take account of the progress made by Morocco or its clarifications to the specialized UN mechanisms, the Delegation added.
The DIDH noted that AI is still referring to Pegasus, and ignoring that the Moroccan authorities have provided a clear and unambiguous response, in addition to the recent international expertise, in favor of Morocco, presented publicly by Morocco’s Personal Data Protection Committee (CNDP).
The DIDH recalled, anew, that the people referred to by the NGO stood trial as part of the common law and not because they were practicing their right to free speech.
