Spain and Morocco set, on Friday, two new goods passages through the customs offices of Sebta and Melillia, in accordance with the schedule agreed on at the Rabat high-level meeting on Feb. 1-2.
According to a press release from the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the two kingdoms’ ties are progressing and nearing full normalization via spurring trade and solving the unregulated commerce that was taking place at these border posts.
The several technical issues discovered during the test conducted on January 27 have already been addressed. The Melilla customs office has been closed since 2018.
On February 13, Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares discussed with the presidents of the Sebta and Melilla enclaves the progressive and orderly opening of commercial customs with Morocco.
