Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares highlighted, on Tuesday, the “tangible and concrete results” that the new Morocco-Spain roadmap yielded.
The new relationship with Morocco is based on “solid pillars”, stressed the Minister before the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Spanish Lower House, saying that the results are already apparent on the ground.
Albares noted that collaboration with Morocco enabled the dismantling of six criminal and terrorist networks in the last 18 months.
“We cooperate in fighting the mafias which are involved in human trafficking,” he added, pointing out that “migration must be safe, orderly and regular”.
The Minister emphasized the decrease in irregular immigration, with 69% fewer arrivals in January compared to the same period in 2022 on the Andalusian coast, and 82% in the case of the Canary Islands.
