The Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ) rejected, during its Secretariat General’s meeting on Tuesday in Riyadh (KSA), the baseless accusation saying that Morocco is spying on journalists.
The FAJ, which has been following the campaign by the European Parliament against Morocco regarding the “Pegasus” spyware use and had the chance to get further details from the Moroccan delegation attending the meeting, stressed that the European Parliament and the other non-governmental organizations failed to provide evidence and unequivocal technical argument to substantiate their accusations.
“The case remains mere allegations and is scientifically baseless,” it said.
The Federation also expressed its dismay at the French judicial decision to reject Morocco’s right to resort to French courts to demand evidence for the accusations, while accepting complaints filed by French journalists against Morocco, claiming that their phones were bugged, without any independent technical expertise.
The FAJ denounced the position of the European Parliament, which refused to consider reports, studies and research carried out by experts of various nationalities, and showing the absurdity of the European Parliament’s allegations.
“This scandalous, systematic campaign led by European countries is meant to exert political and diplomatic pressure,” it underlined.
