US president Joe Biden paid on Monday an unexpected visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is nearing one year.
On his Twitter page, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warmly welcomed Biden.
“I am thankful to the U.S. for standing with Ukraine and for our strong partnership. We are determined to work together to ensure Ukraine’s victory”, said Zelenskyy.
The white house said in a statement that this meeting is meant to reaffirm the unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
