The Kingdom’s National Library hosted, on Thursday, the 7th edition of the Literary Season entitled “Let’s Read Moroccan Books too”, featuring more than 300 new books.
The presented books are 100% Moroccan, from the writers to the publishers, and they include various genres such as novels, essays and youth books… They are authored in various languages as Arabic, French, English, and Amazigh.
Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Culture, underlined the importance of this kind of events in strengthening the reading and writing Culture, in addition to gathering writers and publishers in one place.
He announced that his ministry had concluded a partnership with the ministry of education to promote reading activities in public schools, given that such educational institution are “our beacon of hope.”
Abdelkader Retnani, a publisher, said that this is an exceptional edition because it is taking place in Rabat, the African Cultural Capital. He added that the publishing activities are flourishing in Morocco despite all difficulties, such as Covid 19.
This event was attended by figures from academia, writers, and editors, as well as by visitors and book lovers who are interested in the Moroccan literature.
