The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) concluded, on Wednesday, an industrial compensation agreement with American Company “Boeing” for spare parts sourcing totaling 1.5 billion dirhams.
The agreement signing ceremony was chaired by Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration, in the presence of FAR and Gendarmerie high-ranking officers, as well as representatives of the US Embassy.
The deal seeks to ameliorate the Moroccan Defense Industrial and Technological Base. It will enable the Royal Air Forces to increase their autonomy in terms of manufacturing, composite repair, and other spare parts and superstructures.
The agreement touches also on R&D and technology transfer as Moroccan engineering offices will be upgraded to meet international standards in aeronautics. A research center on additive manufacturing in Industry 4.0 will be established, in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir.
The US State Department sold, in Nov. 2019, 36 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and related equipment to Morocco for an estimated cost of $4.25 billion.
