Algerian president Abdelmajid Tabboune decided on Wednesday to recall the country’s ambassador in Paris for consultations.
Tunisian authorities had arrested, Friday, Algerian opponent and activist Amira Bouraoui at the Tunis-Carthage airport. Later, they allowed her to travel to France.
According to Algerian News Agency (APS), the Algerian foreign ministry strongly condemned the violation of national sovereignty by French diplomatic, consular and security personnel, who participated in a secret and illegal infiltration of an Algerian citizen
French paper “Le Monde” reported that France has intervened with the Tunisian authorities to allow Bouraoui to travel as a French citizen with dual nationality.
Bouaraoui, the most famous activist for democratic change in Algeria and former leader of the Barakat opposition movement, was prohibited, in 2014, from leaving Algeria.
