Tunisian authorities arrested on Friday Algerian opponent Amira Bouraoui at the Tunis-Carthage international airport, while heading to France, for illegal entry into the Tunisian territory, Algerian news outlet “Algérie Part” (AP) reported.
Bouaraoui, the most famous activist for democratic change in Algeria, was temporarily detained and released on Monday awaiting her appearance before the Tunisian court.
Undercover agents abducted the Algerian opponent upon her release, said AP.
Bouaraoui’s family is looking for information to locate her. The Tunisian authorities neither made an intervention about this abduction nor provided the identity of the kidnappers.
No arrest warrant was issued against Amira Bouraoui in Algeria.
AP added that Tunisia is preparing to extradite Bouaraoui at the request of Algeria.
The former leader of the Barakat opposition movement was prohibited, in 2014, from leaving Algeria
