The Committee of foreign policy, international relations, and parliamentary diplomacy at the Andean Parliament reiterated its unwavering position in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, refuting its Speaker’s statements at the 17th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (UPCI), held recently in Algeria.
A statement from the upper house said that this position follows intense contacts made by its speaker with the Presidency and members of the said Committee, which led to the release of an official statement, on Feb. 3, reaffirming the committee’s steadfast position in favor of Morocco’s political sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as its autonomy plan.
The committee recalled the latest official resolution adopted by the Andean Parliament, on Oct. 27, 2022, in Bucaramanga, Colombia, where a majority of its members had voted for a resolution in support of the political sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity of sovereign states recognized by the United Nations. It also expressed support for the Moroccan autonomy plan as a realistic, serious and credible solution to this regional dispute under the UN auspices.
The Moroccan parliamentary delegation that participated in the 17th Conference of UPCI in Algeria condemned the incident that marred the opening session of this meeting, after the attack on the territorial integrity of Morocco and the interference in its domestic affairs by Colombian deputy Gloria Florez.
