Chairperson of the Moroccan-EU joint parliamentary committee Lahcen Haddad said, on Tuesday at a press conference, that the European Parliament (EP) resolution against Morocco reflects a resurrected neocolonial desire of despising southern states and their ability to defend human rights.
Haddad accused the European Parliament of playing a role that is not its own and meddling with the justice of a sovereign state.
He said that the resolution is a flagrant interference in the course of justice, in cases where the verdict has not yet been given.
Haddad was the guest speaker of a MAP Forum, held under the theme “Resolution of the European Parliament: Circumvention of all institutional mechanisms of dialogue and coordination and a politicization of matters falling under the competence of the judiciary.”
Haddad said that Omar Radi’s case had not been heard in any manner by the EP, which chose to overlook women’s rights.
He concluded by saying that the Moroccan Parliament is reviewing its methods and the relationship it has with the European Parliament.
