The number of startups that went bankrupt in Morocco in 2022 stood at 12,397, a 17.4% rise year on year, according to “Inforisk” consulting agency.
99.2% of insolvent businesses are very small enterprises, while small and medium-sized businesses have a percentage of 0.7%. Only 0.1% of large corporations are affected by insolvency.
This upward tendency of bankruptcy is due mainly to the lack of awareness of existing preventive measures, it said.
99.69% of bankrupt businesses are due to compulsory liquidation, dissolution or closure.
The cities of Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier include 41% of the said companies.
Most insolvent enterprises were operating in trade, real estate and transportation.
For each business that went bankrupt in 2022, four new ones were set up.
