German Ambassador to Morocco ROBERT DÖLGER said that his country’s support for Morocco in the Sahara issue is unchangeable, despite the change of political parties in power.
The statement came in an interview with a French-speaking media outlet, during which the ambassador reiterated Germany’s full support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara and called for an in-depth regional dialogue.
“I believe that this position is supported by the majority of political parties and groups. We support the autonomy plan, proposed by Morocco in 2007, and we consider it a serious and realistic basis for these negotiations”, he added.
“The pro-polisario activists are making a lot of noise, but this does not affect German politicians. The most important thing is the willingness of all parties to find a solution under the UN auspices,” he added.
Referring to the Algerian involvement, the ambassador considered it necessary to find a regional solution, recalling the reunification of Germany that went beyond the German borders and included different countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia…
