Moroccan citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with administrative services and considered that citizenship rights are not respected, according to the Ombudsman Institution’s 2021 report.
The institution recorded 5.409 complaints, 752 of which (13.90%) were submitted online in 2021.
The body pointed out that 1,176 disputes were settled and 228 recommendations were implemented.
The report stated that the institution had received numerous complaints about the mistreatment of citizens in public administrations. People are resentful at these institutions, a fact that affects the policies adopted in the public sector.
Among the major issues covered by the report is the non-execution by public administrations of the recommendations handed by the ombudsman.
The report also highlighted the importance of creating high-quality online platforms to receive and process grievances, as well as providing alternatives for non-internet users.
The Ombudsman called for reducing the communication gap between the administration and the citizen and responding to citizens’ requests.
Responsiveness should be within reasonable deadlines and administrative procedures should be facilitated, it added.
