Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez affirmed Tuesday the strategic aspect of relations between Morocco and Spain.
The Spanish senior official stressed, at Spain’s Congress of Deputies, that keeping good relations with Morocco plays in favor of Spain and the whole European Union. He added that Spain will always stand up for preserving its bonds with the Kingdom.
He recalled trade between the two Kingdoms rose by 33% in 2022 to nearly 10 bln euros.
Referring to illegal immigration, he noted that the Moroccan-Spanish route posted a decline unlike other routes.
He also underscored the paramount importance of the upcoming Morocco-Spain summit.
In same vein, King Felipe VI had stated that the high-level meeting, slated Feb. 1-2, will deepen bilateral relations, based on solid foundations.
The meeting, which was not convened since 2015, is in line with the roadmap agreed upon last April. The text provides also for reviving the countries’ working groups.
The Spanish monarch was speaking to ambassadors accredited to Spain, including Morocco’s Karima Benyaich.
