A Moroccan, aged 25, had killed at least one person, Wednesday, using a machete, and injured several clergymen in two different churches in Algeciras, South of Spain.
The authorities confirmed the death of a sacristan at the Nuestra Senora de La Palma church. In addition, the titular priest of the parish church of San Isidro was gravely injured.
The attacker has been apprehended, according to Spanish police.
The act is being investigated as a terrorist incident, according to Madrid’s High Court.
The Union of Islamic Communities in Campo de Gibraltar strongly condemned the atrocity. It voiced its deep sorrow over this terrible criminal act and called it a vile and cowardly terrorist attack.
