French Journalist and Writer Michael Darmon stated, in an opinion article published by Forbes France, that the EP’s resolution against Morocco makes the #MeToo movement devoid of its achievements and worth.
#MeToo is a worldwide social movement against sexual abuse, harassment, and rape.
Darmon’s article, entitled “Quand le Parlement européen sacrifie le #MeToo” (When the European Parliament Sacrifices #MeToo), accused the European legislative institution of marginalizing the victim, Hafsa Boutahar, and defending its rapist Omar Radi.
It would seem that the EU is oppressing all women and trampling on their rights, in a hypocritical way, by stifling the voice of a rape victim and supporting, even seeking justice for the convict.
The journalist criticized the EP for its unusual and sudden change of heart regarding Morocco, particularly in light of the Monarch’s steadfast insistence, in his speeches, on the importance of women within the Moroccan society.
He also questioned this policy shift, which coincides with Morocco’s emergence as a regional power.
