The Moroccan Subsidies Fund allocated 40 billion MAD in 2022 to counter the surge in prices, 22 of which were used to subsidize cooking gas, said minister of Economy Nadia Fettah Alaoui on Monday.
This contribution helped maintain the price of gas cylinders at 40 MAD each, instead of 130 MAD.
The imported wheat cost the country 10.5 bln MAD, while imported sugar cost approximately 4.8 bln MAD, she explained.
She also mentioned 16 bln MAD of additional appropriations and 26 bln MAD to support the said Fund.
The government allotted 3.9 billion MAD to the transportation sector to manage the rising prices of fuel nationally and internationally.
5 billion MAD were granted to the Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) last November to keep bills at reasonable prices.
