The National Office of Fisheries (ONP) said fish catch via coastal and small-scale fishing reached more than 1.5 million tons in 2022, a 13% increase versus the year 2021.
ONP reported that the value of this catch exceeded 9.7 billion MAD, a 7% increase compared to 2021.
Oysters, coastal pelagic fish, and crustaceans increased by 18% to 1.232 tons, 17% to 1.3 million tons, and 1% to 6.832 tons respectively.
Algae fell 42% to 11.849 tons and mollusks dropped 12% to 60.461 tons.
A total of 18.318 tons of coastal and traditional fishing products were unloaded at Mediterranean ports during 2022, a decrease of 6%. In terms of value, these ports fell by 11% to 611.16 million MAD.
