The budget allotted to traditional education (teaching of Islamic Sharia in parallel with scientific subjects and literature) in Morocco made a quantum leap, from 3 million MAD in 2004 to 324 in 2022.
According to Minister of Endowments Ahmed Toufiq, who was speaking at the lower house’s question time, the Ministry revamped traditional education institutions for an amount of 782 million MAD over the 2004-2022 period.
The Ministry also provided foodstuffs, books and school supplies, totaling 15 million MAD yearly.
Toufiq added that the ministry is expanding the network of traditional schools nationwide, with the number of schools rising from 114 to 293.
