A Business delegation of Pakistani industrialists and investors, under the Pakistan-Morocco Business Forum, is visiting Morocco, on Jan. 15-19, to participate in the International Business Conference.
The event is aimed at promoting foreign investment in Pakistan and increasing its domestic exports.
Shahbaz Mahmood Sheikh, a well-known businessman, said in a statement to Pakistan News Agency (APP), that the purpose of the visit is to give investors access to the international market to commercialize their agricultural products, textile, surgical instruments, sports equipment, car parts, and other domestic products.
According to the Pakistan Business Council, Morocco’s exports to Pakistan reached in 2018 an all-time high of USD 347.43 million while imports from Pakistan were valued at USD 35.82 million.
The untapped potential of trade shows that both nations should work on diversifying their export portfolios. Currently, Pakistan’s exports to Morocco are comprised of rice, and denim and cotton fabrics, whereas phosphoric acid, phosphates, and scrap metals are the main imports from Morocco.
