Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and head of National Financial Intelligence Authority (ANRF) Jawhar Nfissi discussed, on Friday, ways to get off the grey list by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
An FATF delegation will be visiting Morocco on Jan. 16-18 to assess steps taken by the Moroccan government to be removed from the said list.
The FATF opted to maintain Morocco on the “grey list” at its October meeting, and agreed with Rabat that its experts would visit the country to assess how well the action plan agreed upon in February 2021 was carried out.
The Friday meeting also touched on measures to counter money laundering and terrorism funding.
The 2021 ANRF report, presented to Akhannouch on this occasion, reflects the development of activity indicators, including the number of reports of suspicious transactions, information requests made nationally and internationally, and referrals to the appropriate judicial authorities.
