King Mohammed VI granted his pardon to 991 convicts to commemorate the Independence Manifesto Day.
The Ministry of Justice announced that the beneficiaries are either detained or serving a suspended sentence.
The detained are 707, including 10 inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison sentences, 687 prisoners who got their prison sentences reduced, 1 inmate had his death sentence commuted to life sentence, and 9 inmates had their life sentences commuted to fixed prison terms.
Those with suspended sentences are 284: 86 persons benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms, 17 people benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while maintaining the fines, 169 people had their fines annulled, while 12 others received pardon over both their prison terms and fines.
